Did you know it's national Almond Buttercrunch day? Seriously, who comes up with these holidays? But hey, who are we to argue with excuses to make delicious food? These are relatively easy to make and don't require any difficult to find ingredients either.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups brushed almonds
- 1 1/4 cups white sugar
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips.
Use butter to grease the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking pan. Spread the crushed almonds evenly over the pan.
In a medium saucepan melt the butter and sugar, making sure to strir constantly until it's all brown and almost smoking. Pour the mixture into the baking pan over the nuts, and sprinkle chocolate chips over top so they meld. Sprinkle additional ground nuts on top, then let it cook before breaking into bars similar to peppermint bark.
